An avid basketball fan closely monitoring the PBA contends that the league’s P20,000 fine on NorthPort Batang Pier team manager Alfredo “Pido” Jarencio for serious threats against former NLEX Road Warriors import Thomas Robinson was insufficient.
In a social media post on X (formerly Twitter), @PBAInsider emphasized that the penalty on Jarencio should match that of former Bay Area Dragons guard Myles Powell, who was fined P100,000 in January of this year for criticizing the PBA’s officiating.
“Former Bay Area import Myles Powell was once fined P100k for tweeting something negative about PBA officiating. Jarencio was dogged P20k for threatening to shoot/kill Thomas Robinson. It can’t get more ridiculous than that @pbaconnect,” @PBAInsider tweeted.

Some of his followers also voiced their disagreement with the lenient punishment given to Jarencio.
“Pido Jarencio lost a lot a prestige for such infraction, he should resign as Team Manager or be fired by Northport Management.”
“Bad look for the pba and NLEX. They just proved that they are more concerned about their image than the players. They even banned players like allado and orton for saying something bad about the PBA. NLEx should’ve stood by their player, foreigner or not.”
“Commisioner should resign. Inconsistent decision, no idea how to make the league more interesting, INCOMPETENT, and bs. This league is a pure JOKE. Trash league smh. It is just a waste of money and talent. I don’t blame other players showing desire to play overseas.”
“This league is dying.”
“PBA ”
“Make it make sense @pbaconnect”
“Marcial is a joke period.”
“PBA POLITICS”
“PBA is a big time joke!! No credibility whatsoever. Demolish that league.”
“Joke na kasi ang PBA ngayon. Hindi na balance.”
During the endgame exchange between Jarencio and Robinson, the former was heard saying, “You are one bullet. I will shoot you later. Happy New Year.”
Expressing remorse for his statement, Jarencio couldn’t personally apologize to Robinson after the import had already received a pink slip from his team due to the altercation and missing team practices.
