Justin Gutang and the Changwon LG Sakers scored a bounce-back win against the Seoul SK Knights, 87-73, in the Korean Basketball League on Thursday night at the Jamsil Student Gymnasium.
The former College of St. Benilde Blazers forward tallied six points to go with two assists, one rebound, and one steal as the LG Sakers returned to their winning ways and improved their win-loss record to 10-5.
Lee Jae-do top-scored for the LG Sakers with 25 points; Assem Marei posted a double-double of 15 points and 23 rebounds; and Jeong Hee-jae contributed 12 points on four three-point connections.
“I thought it would be an easy game, but the defense we had prepared fell apart,” said Changwon head coach Cho Sang-hyun. “The first half ended badly. I told the players that if they did in the transition and rebound battles at halftime, they would have a good result.”
Oh Se-geun finished with 21 points, including two triples; Jameel Warney added 16 markers; and Juan Gomez de Liano remained sidelined as the SK Knights dropped to an 8-6 record.
Meanwhile, Dave Ildefonso had another scoreless outing as the Suwon KT Sonic Boom scored an 85-71 victory over the Busan KGG Egis at the Busan Sajik Gymnasium.
The Sonic Boom remained in second place in the standings with a 10-5 record, while the Egis dropped to a 4-8 record.
