Abando’s Anyang endures 7th straight loss after falling to Alvano’s Wonju

Rhenz Abando and the Anyang Jung Kwan Jang Red Boosters tasted their seventh consecutive loss in the Korean Basketball League after bowing to Ethan Alvano and Wonju DB Promy on Sunday night at the Wonju Sports Complex.

Abando, formerly of the Colegio de San Juan de Letran Knights, struggled with just eight points, five blocks, five rebounds, and one steal for the defending champions Red Boosters, which dropped to 9-11.

Anyang head coach Kim Sang-sik did not hide his disappointment against reinforcement Omari Spellman, who he said was performing below par since rejoining the squad last month.

“Foreign players were lacking in rebounds and scoring. Of course, there are invisible contributions,” said Kim. “The coaching staff is also angry. I can’t say anything about Spellman. He doesn’t seem to be in good shape.”

Didrick Lawson top-scored for Promy with 28 points to go with 11 rebounds, while Alvano contributed 15 points and six assists as they remained on top of the standings with a 17-3 record.
