Anyang coach worried about Rhenz Abando’s knee injury

Anyang Jung Kwan Jang Red Boosters head coach Kim Sang-sik voiced concern as Rhenz Abando missed their 91-80 loss to Deagu Korea Gas Corporation Pegasus in the Korean Basketball League last Monday due to a knee injury.

Kim expressed concern, fearing that the former Colegio de San Juan de Letran Knights star might face an extended period on the sidelines, despite medical professionals deeming it a minor injury.

The Pangasinan native reportedly suffered the injury in the Red Boosters’ recent East Asian Super League (EASL) game against the PBA’s TNT Tropang Giga.

“I think Rhenz’s knee bent a little while playing in the EASL,” Kim said in an interview. “The hospital said there was no major problem, but I think I’m feeling a little bad for him.
Abando, a second-year KBL Asian quarter player, averaged 10 points, 4.7 rebounds, and one assist for the defending champion Red Boosters this season.

The Red Boosters are currently struggling with a 10-12 win-loss slate, forcing them to tap a new import in Robert Carter Jr. to replace the former Golden State Warriors big man Omari Spellman.
