Justin Gutang and the Changwon LG Sakers emerged victorious over Dave Ildefonso and the Suwon KT Sonic Boom, 84-76, in the Korean Basketball League on Saturday night at the Changwon Gymnasium.
Gutang made use of his limited playing time as he contributed nine points, five rebounds, and one assist as the LG Sakers kept their hold of the second spot in the standings with a 14-5 win-loss slate.
Assem Marei had a double-double of 21 points and 18 rebounds to lead the LG Sakers; Lee Jae-do added 16 markers; Kwanhee Lee and Hongseok Yang ended with 15 and 10, respectively.
“We expected this to be a tight game, just like what we saw in the first half. Since the opponent was a team with good depth, we thoroughly analyzed the areas where we lost in the previous match,” said LG Sakers head coach Cho Sang-hyun.
“We are on a winning streak, but all nine teams are burdened. I am very worried that my poor preparation will lead to bad results for the players. Fortunately, the players are covering it well,” he added.
Paris Bass finished with 21 points and nine rebounds, Heo Hoon added 18 markers, and Ildefonso was limited to four points as the Sonic Boom dropped to a 12-6 record.
