Ethan Alvano and the Wonju DB Promy strengthened their position at the top of the Korean Basketball League with a convincing 91-67 victory over the Seoul Samsung Thunders on Friday night at the Wonju Sports Complex.
The Filipino-American guard posted 17 points to go with six assists, three rebounds, and three steals as the Promy netted its second consecutive victory for a 16-3 win-loss slate.
Didrick Lawson top-scored for the league-leading Wonju with 25 points, to go with six rebounds and four assists, while Kim Jong-gyu also contributed 17 markers for the Promy.
“The players are obsessed with what doesn’t work and try to solve it with what doesn’t work. I point out those areas. Every time that happens, I calm the players down and point out exactly what they need to do,” said Wonju head coach Kim Joo-seong.
“We need to improve. Other teams are improving. If we continue to play like today’s game, we will be caught by the top teams,” he added. “We have to prepare a way to deal with it. There is still a lot to prepare.”
Kofi Coburn finished with 22 points and nine rebounds, while Jeonghyun Lee added 11 markers as the Thunders dropped to last place in the standings with a 3-16 record.
