San Miguel Beer’s superstar June Mar Fajardo expressed regret for not being able to suit up for the Beermen on Friday when they suffered a 115-101 upset at the hands of NorthPort.
Fajardo mentioned the necessity of resting for at least four weeks, possibly a maximum of six weeks, after fracturing his left hand.
“Out ako ng 4-6 weeks. So far, medyo hindi na maga. Pahinga lang muna para properly healed tayo,” he said.
He admitted to being surprised by the severity of his injury, realizing it was more serious than he initially thought after feeling pain in his hand during their 115-110 win over Rain or Shine last week.
“Nagulat ako, akala ko walang fracture. Nakita na lang sa X Ray meron talaga. Pero makakabalik din ako,” he said.
Fajardo is no stranger to injuries, having experienced a significant one in his career when he broke his tibia, an injury that could have potentially ended his career.
Nevertheless, he made a comeback, even joining Gilas Pilipinas, before achieving an unprecedented seventh PBA Most Valuable Player award.
“Nakakainis nga ang injury, pero hindi naman natin nakokontrol ‘yan,” he said. “Kahit gaano kaingat mangyayari at mangyayari ang mga bagay na ‘yan.”
