If you thought the 10-time Premier Volleyball League (PVL) champions Creamline Cool Smashers had seen it all—think again.
For the first time in franchise history, Creamline played on back-to-back days in the 2025 PVL On Tour and came out unscathed, completing a sweep of their Vigan City leg with wins over Capital1 and Akari.
The Cool Smashers wrapped up their two-game stretch with a hard-fought 27-25, 22-25, 25-19, 25-18 victory against Akari on Monday night, June 23, at Chavit Coliseum in Ilocos Sur.
“Siyempre, happy kami dahil kahit back-to-back ‘yung games namin, kasi first time na mangyari sa amin talaga na magkasunod na araw,” said Creamline head coach Sherwin Meneses. “Siguro marami pa kaming iimprove para magtuloy-tuloy ‘yung magandang laro namin.”
Meneses emphasized the importance of conditioning more than anything else at this point in the tour.
“Number one, ‘yung conditioning namin. Dapat talaga mataas kasi medyo almost a month pa lang kami nagte-training,” he said.
“Alam mo naman ‘yung labanan sa PVL, talagang nakakapagod. ‘Yun ‘yung number one na pagtutuunan namin ng pansin.”
Veterans Alyssa Valdez and Michele Gumabao showed the way with 18 and 16 points, respectively, while newcomer Sheena Toring added spark off the bench with 10 points in just her second game with Creamline.
With the sweep, Creamline improved to 2-0 and now gets a much-needed breather before resuming action against fellow unbeaten team Cignal HD Spikers on July 1 at the FilOil EcoOil Centre.
