The Philippine Sambo Team earned two bronze medals at the 2025 World Sambo Cup held from June 5 to 9 in Yerevan, Armenia.
World No. 3 Sydney Sy Tancontian, a former UST Tiger Judoka, clinched bronze in the women’s +80kg Sport Sambo event. Meanwhile, Aislinn Agnes Yap added another bronze for the country in the -80kg Combat Sambo category.
In the men’s division, Marwin Quirante secured a fifth-place finish in the -58kg Combat Sambo, tying with Georgia’s Giga Sopromadze.

This year’s World Cup featured 252 athletes from 18 countries, showcasing the growing global reach and competitiveness of sambo.
