The Philippine Table Tennis Federation (PTTF) has announced the country’s representatives for the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Bahrain, following the conclusion of the national selection event held June 7–8 at Ayala Malls Manila Bay.
The top three athletes in both the boys’ and girls’ divisions emerged from a pool of 96 competitors aged 14 to 17, representing 13 regions across the country.
Set to banner the Philippine colors in the boys’ team are UST’s Emmanuel Paculba Jr. (National Capital Region), Nazlem John Marin (Region 4-A), and Aldrich Jakob Quindo (National Academy of Sports). The girls’ team will be composed of Joanna Isabelle Esguerra (Region 4-A), Jhamaica Labrador (Region 7), and Kimberly Amandy (Region 4-A).
PTTF president Ting Ledesma expressed gratitude to those who helped make the event a success.
“The event’s success would not have been possible without the tireless efforts of each and every individual and organization involved. Your hard work, enthusiasm, and collaboration have truly made a difference in the lives of our athletes and in the promotion of table tennis in our community,” he wrote on Facebook.
“Thank you for your invaluable contributions, unwavering support, and commitment to excellence. Together, we have created a platform for young talents to showcase their skills and reach new heights in their sporting journey.”
The 3rd Asian Youth Games will take place from October 22 to 31 in Bahrain, featuring 21 sports, 26 disciplines, and 207 events. More than 2,000 young athletes from 45 countries are expected to participate.
