Former world champion Jerwin Ancajas enlisted the assistance of fellow Filipino boxer Vincent Astrolabio in preparation for his upcoming WBA bantamweight title clash against Takuma Inoue.
Astrolabio becomes the fifth sparring partner for Ancajas as he aims to cover all potential fighting styles Inoue might employ in their February 24 bout.
Ancajas is stationed at his Survival Camp in Cavite, rotating through four sparring partners before facing off with Astrolabio, a bantamweight contender.
Trainer-manager Joven Jimenez mentioned that they aim to assess Ancajas’ stamina through this rigorous training approach.
Jimenez mentioned they are set to face Inoue in Tokyo, Japan, emphasizing the importance of Ancajas being well-conditioned for the challenging environment.
“We are the visitors, so his stamina must be all out. Every round he has to go all out every minute and every second of the fight,” said Jimenez in a report by GMA News.
