Carl Tamayo and the Ryukyu Golden Kings failed to repeat over the Sendai 89ers with a close 83-81 loss in the Japan B.League Division 1 action on Monday night at the Okinawa Arena.
A jump shot by Nathan Boothe at the buzzer served as the difference-maker for the 89ers as they bounced back from an 84-69 defeat to the Golden Kings on Sunday evening.
Boothe top-scored for the 89ers with 26 points, including three outside conversions, along with eight rebounds and three assists, as they notched their 12th win against 14 losses.
Ryo Abe chipped in 25 markers, with three three-point conversions, to go with eight rebounds and seven assists, while Volodymyr Gerun had a double-double of 13 points and 12 rebounds for Sendai.
Vic Law led the way for the defending champion Golden Kings with 26 points, while Keita Imamura and Jack Cooley added 21 and 16 markers, respectively, as they dropped to 19-7.
Tamayo logged 12 minutes in the game but only managed to contribute two points on 1-of-3 field goal shooting, to go with two rebounds, one assist, and one block for the Golden Kings.
