Deo Timajo waxed hot on his birthday to steer the Novaliches QC Warriors to a 92-72 domination of the Manila City Stars in the Pilipinas Super League President’s Cup on late Monday night at the FilOil EcoOil Arena in San Juan.
The veteran forward finished with 20 points, including two three-point conversions, to go with five assists, four rebounds, and three steals as the Warriors notched their fourth win in eight games.
“Sinabihan ako ng coaches ko before the game na ‘kung libre ka, tira mo lang’ and nagtulong tulong din kami sa opensa at depensa para makuha ‘yung panalo,” Timajo said in a post-game interview.
Jhonnel Bauzon top-scored with 21 points to go with six rebounds, two assists, one steal, and a block; Jason Strait added 14 markers; and John Ambulodto had a double-double of 10 points and 12 rebounds for the Warriors.
From a 37-all score at the half, the Warriors got their shots to fall in the third quarter to take a slim 61-57 lead before pulling away for good in the final quarter as the lead reached as high as 20 points.
Levi dela Cruz finished with 13 points, Macky Acosta added 12 markers, and Jason Mancao and Kyle Neypes had 11 and 10, respectively, as the Stars dropped to a 2-6 record.
