Johnedel Cardel urges Dyip: ‘Bawi tayo sa All-Filipino’

Terrafirma Dyip’s resilient performance against the Meralco Bolts on Friday has instilled hope in head coach Johnedel Cardel that they possess the capability to compete in the Philippine Cup.

Opting for an all-Filipino roster in the second half, the Dyip still managed to provide a significant challenge to the Bolts in the endgame.

Despite losing the game 109-102, Terrafirma’s performance left a positive impression on Coach Cardel.

“Kung kailan kami walang import, gumanda pa ang laro namin,” he said. “Kung na-sustain lang talaga namin. Pero good game naman kami.”

Cardel explained that he benched import Thomas de Thaey for complaining of not getting enough touches while being lazy on defense.

The Dyip finished their Commissioner’s Cup campaign with a 2-9 record, but Cardel is optimistic that they will be a better team in the Philippine Cup.

(MJD)
