Michael Calisaan displayed his efficiency in the paint as the San Juan Kings-Go for Gold cruised to an 85-62 victory over the Novaliches Warriors in the Pilipinas Super League Presidents’ Cup on Monday night at the FilOil EcoOil Center in San Juan.
Calisaan top-scored with 16 points, hitting seven of his 11 field goal attempts, to go with six rebounds and one assist as the Kings notched their seventh victory in eight matches.
“Ako naman nilalaro ko lang kung ano ‘yung role ko sa team eh, kung ano ‘yung ipapagawa ni coach Jinggoy (Estrada) sinusunod namin,” Calisaan said during his Player of the Game interview.
“Medyo struggle pa kami at this point kasi madami kaming mga bagong player pero unti-unti naman namin nabubuo ‘yung chemistry ng team,” added the former Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots forward.
Amiel Cris Soberano added 13 markers, including three outside shots, while Michael Malonzo and Agem Miranda contributed 14 markers apiece for the Kings.
From a slim 41-34 halftime lead, the Kings went on a 21-9 scoring run in the third period to build a 62-43 advantage, which later grew to its biggest at 85-56 on a conversion by Malonzo.
John Ambulodto was the lone double-digit scorer for the Novaliches with 15 points as they dropped to a 5-5 win-loss slate.
