Adamson Falcons rely on composure to defeat UP Fighting Maroons

The Adamson University Falcons showcased composure in their victory against the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons, securing a 27-25, 25-15, 25-22 win in the UAAP Season 86 Men’s Volleyball Tournament at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

George Pascua, the Falcons head coach, emphasized the importance of composure as he reminded his players to stay focused after facing a tough challenge from the Fighting Maroons in the first set.

“Masyadong naexcite lang ‘yung mga players (nung first set), kaya sabi ko compose muna kung gusto nating manalo,” Pascua said in a post-game interview.

Jude Aguilar, contributing 14 points with 10 attacks, three blocks, and a service ace, along with fellow middle blocker Leo Coguimbal’s 11 points, acknowledged that despite their up-and-down performance in the first and third sets, there are areas the Falcons need to address in their future matches.

“Kaya po kami nahabol nung third set, kasi parang nag lay low po kami, pero hindi naman ganon ang mindset namin. Nireremind naman kami na kailangan namin tapusin agad, hindi na kailangan bigyan ng chance ‘yung kalaban,” Aguilar said.

The Falcons now hold a 1-1 win-loss record, while the Fighting Maroons continue to seek their first victory after two matches.
