The Creamline Cool Smashers encountered a formidable challenge from the resilient Farm Fresh Foxies in their PVL 1st All-Filipino Conference match on Saturday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Diana Carlos mentioned that the Cool Smashers had to continuously adapt to the strong performance of the Foxies, especially during their come-from-behind 34-36, 25-23, 25-22, and 25-15 victory.
“Farm Fresh really did a great job. They were defending well; they were coming very well,” Carlos said in a post-game interview. “’Yung mga combinations nila and ‘yung mga fast plays talagang maganda, and, on our side, we have a lot of errors.”
“Back to basics lang talaga kami eh, starting with the passes. ‘Yung palaging sinasabi ni coach is, ‘kung kaya naming kontrolin, kontrolin namin.’ Kahit sa anong skills eh sa set, sa spike, sa emotions, so ‘yun ‘yung kailangan pa naming i-improve,” she added.
Jeanette Panaga, named Player of the Game, highlighted the Foxies’ significant improvement, especially considering their youthful lineup compared to the last conference.
“Farm Fresh is a young team, and the Foxies played a good game all throughout,” said Panaga. “We just countered their game by going back to the basics and making some in-game adjustments.”
The three-time defending champion Cool Smashers will return to action on Thursday night against the Akari Power Chargers at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
