Eya Laure unfazed by position shift at Chery Tiggo

Chery Tiggo Crossovers’ standout Eya Laure remains unaffected despite being utilized in various positions by interim head coach Emilio “Kung Fu” Reyes.

Laure said she is ready to adhere to Reyes’ instructions, recognizing that her long-time mentor’s decisions are geared towards enhancing the team’s performance.

“Si coach Kung Fu kasi, siguro hindi alam ng iba, siya ‘yung naging mentor ko since dati pa, and tiwala ako kung ano ‘yung pinapagawa niya sa akin sa game,” Laure said during the PVL Media Day aired at Pilipinas Live.

“Nabibigyan niya ako ng confidence, and alam ko ang reason behind that (changing positions). Kaya naman, sometimes nagiging setter ako, sometimes nagiging opposite, sometimes nagiging open,” she added.

The ex-UST Golden Tigresses star added that she’s open to changing positions in the upcoming 2024 PVL 1st All-Filipino Conference if it proves advantageous for the team.

“Siguro, possible, never naman ang nagsara para sa ibang role, kahit naman nung UAAP pa eh, basta nandyan naman si coach para i-guide ako and sa teammates ko din,” Laure said.

“Basta kung sa sitwasyon na ‘yun ako mas makakatulong sa team eh, siyempre tiwala ako sa kanya eh, kailangan ko lang din pagkatiwalaan ‘yun system niya,” she further said.

In the 2023 PVL 2nd All-Filipino Conference last December, the Crossovers secured a fourth-place finish.

“Basta, sana, this season maka-podium finish na ang Chery Tiggo, ‘yun naman ang goal ko for the team since pumasok ako dito,” Laure said.
