Kean Baclaan is hopeful that his good friend, Kevin Quiambao, will continue with the De La Salle University Green Archers when he becomes eligible for the UAAP Season 88 men’s basketball tournament next year.
Baclaan shared that his fellow Muntinlupeño, Quiambao, played a crucial role in his decision to transfer to the Green Archers after spending the first two seasons of his UAAP career with the National University Bulldogs.
“Excited kasi, siyempre, finally makakapagsama kami this upcoming season kahit nasa residency ako,” Baclaan said in an interview. “Hopefully, mag-stay si KQ para makapagsama kami sa La Salle at makapaglaro kami ng sabay sa UAAP.”
The reigning UAAP MVP winner, Quiambao, has reportedly received an invitation from the New York Knicks to participate in their NBA Summer League this year.
Baclaan and Quiambao are familiar teammates, often playing together in pick-up games at Barangay Bayanan in Muntinlupa City.
The Green Archers will be Baclaan’s third UAAP school, as he initially committed to the University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers before transitioning to the Bulldogs camp.
Baclaan becomes the second point guard to transfer to the Green Archers this year, following the move of former San Beda University Red Lions guard Jacob Cortez.
