Samjosef Belangel’s offensive efforts were not enough as the Daegu Korea Gas Corporation Pegasus bowed to the Suwon KT Sonic Boom, 98-87, in the Korean Basketball League on Thursday night at the Suwon KT Arena.
The Filipino Asian Quota Player of the Pegasus finished with 16 points, including two three-point conversions, to go with six rebounds and one assist, as they fell to a 14-23 record.
Pegasus acting coach Kang Hyuk admitted that his team struggled to keep up with their opponents for the full 40 minutes in the past two matches due to injuries to some key players.
“The players did their best despite some absences due to injuries. The scores were above average. However, it is unfortunate that there were many mistakes and goals conceded,” Kang said.
“However, this situation is a good process for the team,” he added. “In a situation like this, if key players are left out, a gap is created. Still, we must do our best under the given conditions.”
Paris Bass had a double-double of 29 points and 10 rebounds for the Sonic Boom; Moon Jeong-hyeon added 17 points; and Ha Yoo-ngi added 16 as they improved to a 23-13 record.
Andrew Nicholson led the way for the Pegasus with a double-double of 36 points and 11 rebounds, while Seungmin Shin and Daeheon Lee added 15 and 12 markers, respectively.
