UST coach Mamon calls for expanded UAAP men’s volleyball coverage

Odjie Mamon, head coach of the University of Santo Tomas Tiger Spikers, is advocating for expanded television coverage of the UAAP Season 86 men’s volleyball tournament matches.

Mamon asserts that, akin to the women’s volleyball matches, the men’s volleyball games offer equal excitement, making them compelling for both television viewers and spectators at game venues.

“As an advocate for men’s volleyball, I could have wished for more exposure to men’s volleyball, baka naman po,” Mamon said during the pre-season press conference recently.

“So, if you watched the men’s volleyball matches, I think exciting naman siya so it could attract crowds and viewership, kaya sana naman nuh,” added the long-time Tiger Spikers head coach.

Lately, numerous UAAP men’s volleyball players have expressed their discontent regarding the preferential coverage given by league broadcaster Cignal to women’s volleyball.

Nonetheless, Cignal official Rissa Guilas assured that they will broadcast both men’s and women’s volleyball matches, along with other live coverage of UAAP second-semester events, on television.

“We’re covering all the men’s and women’s volleyball games live; aside from that, we’re also committed to covering the men’s and women’s football games, as well as the finals of baseball and softball,” Guilas said.

The UAAP men’s volleyball tournament matches are scheduled to take place every morning on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
