Xyrus Torres has officially transitioned to the professional ranks by signing a one-year contract with the Quezon Huskers for the upcoming Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) season.
According to a post on the team’s official social media account on Wednesday night, the former Far Eastern University Tamaraws sharpshooter is touted as a valuable addition to the Huskers’ roster.
“Huskers fans, let’s welcome the arrival of the newest Husker, Xyrus Torres. His sweet shooting all over the floor promises to be a great addition for our team this upcoming MPBL season,” the Huskers said.
At the Huskers, Torres is poised to reunite with his former Tamaraws teammates, including LJay Gonzales, Rodel Gravera, and Ximone Sandagon.
Earlier this year, Torres declared that he would forgo his final year of eligibility with the Tamaraws in the UAAP Season 87 men’s basketball tournament to pursue a professional career.
Recently, Torres competed for the TNT Triple Giga in the PBA 3×3 tournament.
Last year, during the UAAP Season 86 men’s basketball tournament, he averaged 9.2 points and 3.5 rebounds.
