La Salle’s Kevin Quiambao on PBA D-League absence: ‘Nagpapahinga lang’

Kevin Quiambao clarified that his absence from the EcoOil-La Salle Green Archers team in the PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup is because he wishes to take a break from basketball.

Quiambao explained that he experienced basketball burnout after participating in the Dubai International Basketball Championships with the Strong Group Athletics-Philippines and subsequently joining Gilas Pilipinas in the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers earlier this year.

“Nagpapahinga lang,” Quiambao said in an interview during the PBA D-League coverage on Thursday night. “Naging sunod-sunod din kasi eh, naglaro ako for SGA, and then Gilas kaya ‘yung katawan ko parang medyo na-burnout na.”

“Every day work out lang, S&C (strength and conditioning) program lang. ‘Yun nga nabu-burn out na ako kaya tumigil muna ako sa basketball,” added the Muntinlupa City-native big man.

The 6-foot-7 Quiambao further stated that he intends to prioritize his commitment to the Green Archers in the upcoming months and will entrust any decisions regarding the numerous overseas offers to God.

“These coming days, these coming months, focus ako sa (Green Archers) team namin ang kung ano ang future holds ko, si Lord na bahala dun,” the 22-year-old big man stated.

Earlier reports stated that Quiambao has received two offers from the United States: one from an NCAA Division I school interested in recruiting him as a transfer player, and another from a professional team.

Additionally, he has received offers from teams in Japan and the Middle East.
