Choco Mucho head coach Dante Alinsunurin, a self-proclaimed fan of the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings, acknowledges that he is instilling the “Never Say Die” attitude into his Flying Titans squad.
Alinsunurin emphasized that he consistently advises his Flying Titans team to never surrender in any circumstance, even when they are behind against their opponents, and to approach every game with the utmost importance.
“Oo naman (may halong ‘Never Say Die’ sa sistema namin),” Alinsunurin said in a post-game interview on Thursday night. “Siyempre lumaki talaga ako na Ginebra talaga ‘yung pinapanood ko.”
“Nai-imagine ko talaga na ‘yung sitwasyon namin (parang Ginebra) na every win talagang importante talaga, kung anong adjustment ang kailangan gawin, kung ano ‘yung nagiging struggle (inside the court) talagang laban,” he added.
Alinsunurin also expressed his excitement upon learning that Brownlee is a big fan of his star hitter, Cherry Ann Rondina, and has been rooting for the Flying Titans.
“Siyempre sobrang…ah alam nyo naman kasi na bibihira na sumabay ang basketball sa volleyball, kaya sobrang thankful lang na hindi lang siya sa basketball sumusuporta, pati na din sa volleyball,” Alinsunurin said.
Alinsunurin will now aim to guide the Flying Titans to their inaugural Premier Volleyball League title, mirroring Brownlee’s success in leading the Gin Kings to multiple PBA championships in recent seasons.
