DLSU Lady Spikers urged to amp up efforts for NU clash

De La Salle University Lady Spikers assistant coach, Noel Orcullo, is pushing his team to step up their game before their UAAP Season 86 women’s volleyball tournament second-round match against the National University Lady Bulldogs this Sunday at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Orcullo emphasized that the Lady Spikers must prepare for the possibility of facing the Lady Bulldogs without their star hitter, Angel Canino, who is sidelined indefinitely due to a non-volleyball-related injury.

Orcullo acknowledged that the Lady Spikers faced difficulties on the court in their recent matches against the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons and the University of the East Lady Warriors, especially without Canino’s presence.

“Siguro, as of now, hinahanap pa din nila si Angel, eh.

Orcullo mentioned that Canino remains uncertain about her participation in the Lady Spikers’ upcoming match against the Lady Bulldogs, but she has begun her therapy sessions in preparation.

“She was monitored day by day. Hopefully mag-heal agad, she started therapy sa kamay niya, so tignan natin hanggang kailan ‘yung therapy niya,” Orcullo said.

The defending champions, the Lady Spikers, are currently tied with the University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses at the top, boasting a 9-1 win-loss record.
