The Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws are eager to face their first-round tormentors, the University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses, in their upcoming UAAP Season 86 women’s volleyball tournament second-round match this Saturday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Malate, Manila.
According to Lady Tamaraws head coach Manolo Refugia, besides securing the fourth Final Four spot, they aim to seek revenge for their devastating 22-25, 21-25, 25-23, 25-20, and 15-7 loss to UST in the first round on March 3.
“Siguro, mas gutom kaming bawian si UST kasi ‘yung mga naramdaman ng mga players nung natalo kami (sa UST nung first round) siyempre masyadong heartbreaking ‘yun kasi ahead kami (by two sets nun),” Refugia said.
“Pero siguro gagamitin namin ‘yung momentum na wins namin ngayon (para) maging consistent pa kami and pag-aralan mabuti how to stop UST and ‘yun maka-execute kami ng maayos,” he added.
FEU is on a two-game winning streak after defeating the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles last week, 19-25, 25-20, 25-20, and 25-22, and the Adamson University Lady Falcons last Tuesday, 25-19, 25-23, and 25-23.
With a 6-4 win-loss slate, the Lady Tamaraws needed just one more win to join the Golden Tigresses (9-1), the De La Salle University Lady Spikers (9-1), and the National University Lady Bulldogs (8-2) in the Final Four.
