NU cannot afford to relax after clinching F4 incentive, says coach Miguel

The National University Lady Bulldogs cannot afford to relax after securing a twice-to-beat incentive in the UAAP Season 86 women’s volleyball tournament’s Final Four round.

According to Lady Bulldogs head coach Norman Miguel, he does not want his team to feel complacent, as their goal this season is to reclaim the UAAP women’s volleyball crown.

“Kami wala kaming reason mag relax, na maging complacent after this win, kahit na may twice-to-beat kami,” Miguel said after their straight-set win over the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws on Wednesday night.

Actually, the Lady Bulldogs are still not sure of their Final Four placing, which will be determined after the University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses-De La Salle University Lady Spikers game on Saturday.

A win by the Golden Tigresses over the Lady Spikers will put the Lady Bulldogs in second place, while a Lady Spikers victory over the Golden Tigresses will give NU the top seed in the semifinals.

However, Miguel said that their focus on training in the coming days is against the No. 4 ranked Lady Tamaraws, the team they will face if ever they end up as the top-seed team.

“Hindi kami puwedeng mag relax dun kahit sabihin namin na nanalo kami sa FEU; we can never tell kung ano ang ipe-perform nila sa semifinals baka may ‘bulaga’ sila na kami naman ang masurprise,” Miguel said.
