Noli Eala: In-game adjustments propelled Meralco over SMB in Game 3

The in-game adjustments of the Meralco Bolts propelled them to a 93-89 victory over the San Miguel Beermen in Game 3 of the PBA Philippine Cup Finals on Sunday night.

In a comment posted by Power and Play program host Noli Eala to X (formerly Twitter), he said that the tandem of Bolts coaches Luigi Trillo and Nenad Vucinic did a good job outcoaching the Beermen, led by head coach Jorge Gallent.

Eala added that Gallent’s plan to employ a zone defense for almost the entire game and not rest Beermen center June Mar Fajardo backfired in the endgame.

“SMB is deep and talented. But Nenad and Luigi outcoached the plethora of coaches of SMB,” said Eala, a former PBA commissioner and ex-San Miguel Corporation sports director.

“Junmar played too long. That zone D really didn’t help SMB esp in the end game,” he added in a social media post. “Coaching and in-game adjustments were the difference.”

The Bolts currently hold a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven championship series and can move closer to their first-ever PBA title in Game 4 on Wednesday.
