Manuel hopes Terrafirma ends losing streak in early 2025

Terrafirma big man Vic Manuel is looking forward to a fresh start in 2025.

Manuel, who recently moved from San Miguel to the Dyip, is determined to help end the team’s slump as they resume their PBA Commissioner’s Cup campaign after the holiday break.

Currently, Terrafirma remains the league’s only winless team at 0-7—a situation Manuel admits is disheartening.

“Malungkot ‘yung Pasko kasi first time ko na winless (sa conference),” said the 37-year-old veteran.

Despite the setbacks, Manuel believes Terrafirma is capable of turning things around.

He observed that the team often loses momentum in the closing stretch of games, as seen in their final match of the year, a 124-112 loss to Rain or Shine.

“Nandun na kami. Talagang naso-short lang,” he said. “‘Yun lang kailangan, close out lang talaga. ‘Yun ang problema ng team namin. Kinakapos lang talaga.”

Despite the losing record, Manuel actually sees some upside on Terrafirma, noting the presence of a young, promising core that includes Kemark Carino, Paolo Hernandez, Louie Sangalang, Brent Paraiso, Didat Hanapi, CJ Catapusan, Aljun Melecio, and Mark Nonoy.

Then there’s Stanley Pringle, Kevin Ferrer, Aldrech Ramos, and himself—not to mention the injured Terrence Romeo—to complement the Dyip’s young guns.

Manuel nonetheless sees the Dyip coming together as a unit in its last five outings, describing Terrafima as a “good team.”

“Hindi man ngayon, sa mga next conferences mas magiging better ‘yung team namin. Late lang talaga nabuo,” he added.
