Rebisco banks on Bacolod high school talent to boost Ateneo women’s volleyball

Rebisco management has hinted at the possibility of further recruiting players from Bacolod Tay Tung High School to strengthen the Ateneo de Manila University women’s volleyball team.

This development comes on the heels of a celebratory dinner with the Bacolod City-based Thunderbolts, who recently defended their crown as Rebisco Volleyball League national champions.

“Hosted the Bacolod Tay Tung HS Thunderbolts, back-to-back champion of the 2024 Rebisco Volleyball League National Finals, and the school team of some of our current and future Lady Eagles,” Alan Acero of Rebisco said in a post on X.

Acero hinted at the program’s ongoing recruitment efforts, pointing to former Bacolod Tay Tung High School standouts KC Cortez, Jihan Chuatico, Alexia Montoro, Fiona Arroyo, and Rob Silla, who joined the Ateneo Blue Eagles in this year’s Shakey’s Super League.

The post further fuels speculation about Ateneo’s continuous efforts to bring more Thunderbolts into its fold.
Fans have also noticed a steady influx of talents from institutions such as Ateneo de Davao University and Far Eastern University into Ateneo’s senior women’s volleyball team.

Last year, Ateneo made history by launching its first-ever girls’ volleyball team, helmed by veteran coach Babes Castillo, solidifying its commitment to grassroots development.
