Zamboanga wants Stamp fight in PH: ‘That would be perfect’

Filipino fans have been waiting for the return of ONE Championship to home soil, and Denice “The Menace” Zamboanga hopes to give them a fight to remember.

The ONE interim women’s atomweight champion wants her title unification bout against full champion and close friend Stamp Fairtex to take place in the Philippines.

“That would be perfect. It will make the local fans happy, and I think Stamp and I have the capabilities to fill the arena with the interest alone in our fight,” Zamboanga said.

The last live ONE Championship event in the Philippines was in December 2022, where Zamboanga secured a victory over Lin Heqin at ONE Fight Night 5. Having fought at home before, she knows how special the experience is.

“It’s a different feeling to compete in our own country. I’ve experienced that, and it’s truly one of a kind. It’s truly amazing.”

Zamboanga and Stamp nearly crossed paths in the ONE women’s atomweight MMA Grand Prix but missed the chance. Their title fight was initially set for early last year, only to be delayed again due to an injury to Stamp.

Now, with Zamboanga holding the interim belt, the long-awaited clash is finally set to happen.

“I’m excited to face her, finally. I know this is what the fans want; I know this is something that they’ve been waiting for. This is a fight that should’ve happened a long time ago, and it’s something that people have been anticipating for a long time,” she said.
