Magsayo-Hernandez title eliminator could go to purse bid

The World Boxing Council (WBC) has announced that the ordered eliminator bout between Mark “Magnifico” Magsayo and Mexico’s Eduardo “Rocky” Hernandez could be decided through a purse bid if both camps fail to reach an agreement.

“WBC has officially announced that the ordered elimination match between Mark Magnifico Magsayo and Eduardo Hernandez will go to purse bid on April 8th if both teams cannot come into an agreement for the WBC super featherweight title eliminator,” Viva Promotions stated in a Facebook post.

The winner of the junior lightweight eliminator will earn a shot at WBC super featherweight champion O’Shaquie Foster.

The WBC has set an April 6 deadline for negotiations between Magsayo’s MP Promotions, owned by Manny Pacquiao, and Hernandez’s Matchroom Sports. If no deal is reached, the fight will be opened to bids.

The bout is expected to take place in June.
