Former Philippine Azkals standout Stephan Schrock paid tribute to his mother in a heartfelt birthday message shared on social media.
In a post on his Facebook page, the Fil-German winger honored the sacrifices of his mom, who raised him and his sister alone in Germany after separating from their father.
“To the woman who raised me and my sister single-handedly in a foreign country—you protected us, fed us, and backed us through every fight and challenge life threw at us. Happy birthday, you absolute legend! Love ya loads Nanay 
,” wrote Schrock, one of the most celebrated players in Azkals history.
Schrock’s mother hails from Parang, Maguindanao, and grew up in Cebu. After separating from her German husband when Stephan was just six, she took on the responsibility of raising both children on her own.
Growing up in Schweinfurt, Germany, Schrock found solace and purpose in football, eventually rising to become one of the Philippines’ top footballers.
