The Pasay Voyagers got back on the winning track with an 83-81 upset against erstwhile undefeated Quezon Huskers in the 2025 MPBL Season on Thursday night at the San Andres Sports Complex in Manila.
With the score tied at 77-all with over three minutes left, Laurenz Victoria broke the deadlock with a three-pointer to give the Voyagers an 80-77 lead, but the Huskers responded with a basket from Vince Magbuhos to cut the deficit to 79-80.
The Voyagers increased the lead back to 83-79 after an outside shot from Cyrus Tabi, but the Huskers trimmed the deficit to 81-83 on an Ximone Sandagon basket, and they still had a chance to snatch the win, but Judel Fuentes missed on a triple attempt.
Victoria finished with a near triple-double of 14 points, eight assists, and seven rebounds to be named Player of the Game as the Voyagers notched their fourth win in six games.
“Credit sa mga coaches at teammates, lahat talaga kami nagtrabaho para sa panalo na ito,” Victoria said after the game. “Babalik lang kami sa training at itatama namin ‘yung mga mistakes namin.”
Tabi top-scored for Pasay with 15 points, including three three-point conversions; Felipe Chavez contributed 13 markers; and Warren Bonifacio and Dhon Reverente added 12 markers apiece.
Fuentes led the Huskers with 21 points, with five three-point baskets; JP Sarao added 14 markers, while Magbuhos and Alfrancis Tamsi ended with 11 apiece as the Huskers dropped to a 4-1 mark.
Meanwhile, the Caloocan Batang Kankaloo (4-1) pulled off a tight 75-72 victory over the GenSan Warriors (2-3). Chris Bitoon ended with 24 points, six rebounds, and four assists to be named Player of the Game for Caloocan.
Defending champions Pampanga Giant Lanterns (4-1) dominated Manila Batang Quiapo (1-5), 127-95. Larry Muyang posted a double-double of 35 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Giant Lanterns.
