Petro Gazz’s Aiza Maizo-Pontillas bags 17th major crown

Petro Gazz Angels veteran Aiza Maizo-Pontillas continues to defy time, adding another gem to her already storied volleyball career.

The 37-year-old Maizo-Pontillas clinched her 17th major championship on Saturday night after helping the Angels dethrone the Creamline Cool Smashers in Game 3 of the PVL 2nd All-Filipino Conference Finals at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

This marks her second Premier Volleyball League title, having also won the 2019 Reinforced Conference with the same squad.

The former UST Golden Tigress has built a glittering legacy through the years, collecting titles across various leagues—eight in the Shakey’s V-League, four in the Philippine Superliga, two in the UAAP, and one in the PNVF Champions League.

On top of that, she also owns three minor titles: two from the Cagayan Friendship Games and one from the University Games.

Fans flooded social media with tributes, marveling at Maizo-Pontillas’ consistency, longevity, and championship pedigree, hailing her as a true icon of Philippine volleyball.
