Erin is likely to restrengthen; Tracking dry and warm start

COLUMBUS, GA. (WRBL)- For the start of your work week the heat is on! Highs will sit in the mid 90s, and heat index readings will be in the low 100s tomorrow afternoon. Rain chances will do little to cool us off.

Next Week: A high-pressure system over the southeast will cause rain chances to remain slim for most of this week.  Feel-like temperatures will sit in the 100s through next Thursday.

A stalled out front will move through the southeast at the end of the week. This means rain chances ramp up again. Scattered showers and storms will be possible starting Thursday and will continue through the weekend. An increase in clouds will cause afternoon highs to drop into the 80s.

Tropics: Hurricane Erin has lost a little bit of steam as it continues to undergo an eye wall replacement cycle. As of 5 PM this afternoon, it remains a Category 3 storm. Later tonight/Monday AM, Erin is expected to finish the replacement and will restrengthen into a Category 4. This storm has begun its northwest turn, and the National Hurricane Center's track still maintains that the storm will remain off the coast of the US.

We are monitoring another system moving off the coast of Africa that has a low chance of development over the next week (30%). There is still much uncertainty about whether this system will organize.
