Mindoro Tamaraws center Jonas Tibayan has formally filed a criminal complaint against Gensan Warriors forward Michole Sorela following the punching incident in their MPBL game last week.
Tibayan, accompanied by Tamaraws team owner and Pola Mayor Jennifer Cruz (Ina Alegre), went to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Monday afternoon to pursue the case.
“Nandito lang [kami] para suportahan, samahan ka sa laban mo… isang team para sayo Mindoro Tamaraws,” Cruz wrote in a Facebook post.

The 24-year-old forward was forced to leave with 7:33 left in the third quarter after being struck by Sorela. He remained on the floor for several minutes before being taken out of the game.
Medical examinations later confirmed Tibayan sustained a concussion, a bloody jaw, a broken lip, the loss of a tooth, and a fractured left shoulder from the impact of his fall.
In response, MPBL Commissioner Kenneth Duremdes handed Sorela a lifetime ban and fined him ₱200,000.
