COLUMBUS, Ga.-If you've been hanging on to those warm 80s this October, enjoy them while they last — a noticeable change is already knocking at the door.
A cool, dry front is sweeping through the region today, and it's packing a real punch. Say goodbye to those unseasonably warm temperatures — this front is going to shove them right out of here. By the time it settles in, highs will be much closer to where they should be for this time of year, hovering around the seasonal average.
But it's the mornings where you'll really feel the difference.
Behind the front, skies will clear and dry air will settle in, setting us up for some crisp starts to the day. Expect morning lows dipping into the mid 40s — and yes, you might want to dust off that light jacket or hoodie for the early commute.
So, the 80s exit stage left, and fall is making a proper return. It's the kind of shift that reminds us: sweater weather is just getting started.
WEEKEND: A stronger slow moving front brings showers back into the region Sunday through early next week.
TROPICS: Tracking Tropical Storm Melissa, here's the latest forecast as Melissa is expected to remain in the Caribbean.
