Dry Pattern Dominates Despite Passing Front — Drought Concerns Grow

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL)-We're trending quite dry in this forecast, even with a front expected to pass through on Thursday. While a few sporadic showers and perhaps an isolated heavy storm are possible, conditions will dry out and cool considerably by the end of the week, once the front moves through.

Cooler Air Settling In

  • Highs will start in the upper 80s, but drop to the low to mid 70s later in the week.
  • Overnight lows post-front will dip into the mid to upper 50s, bringing cooler, more fall-like mornings.

Drought Conditions Worsen

With limited rainfall expected, drought conditions will continue to worsen across our region. local farmers Alabama and Georgia talk about how the dry weather is impacting:

  • Livestock health
  • Late-season and winter crops

Watching the Tropics

We're also keeping an eye on the tropics. Right now, it appears that next week's system may bring some coastal rain to Georgia and the Carolinas. However, the chances of that rain moving inland are low, meaning it likely won't provide much relief to dry areas.

Tropical Storm Jerry is currently in the Atlantic — this is the system we're monitoring closely.
