San Miguel Beermen guard Don Trollano played down talk about confidence and personal redemption, saying his focus in the PBA Season 50 Philippine Cup Finals is simply to do his job and help the team in any way possible.
After struggling with just four points in their 96-91 Game 1 loss, Trollano bounced back with a team-high 19 points as the Beermen got even with the TNT Tropang 5G with a 111-92 Game 2 rout.
Trollano said he did not dwell on numbers or outside perceptions, but instead concentrated on how he could contribute to keeping the Beermen competitive in the championship series against the Tropang 5G.
“Yung mindset ko talaga is bumawi kasi panget nga ‘yung laro ko nung Game 1, iniisip ko lang talaga na hindi kami puwedeng ma-down ng two games, so ginawa ko lang ng best ko para makatulong sa team,” Trollano said in a post-game presser.
The veteran guard added that he does not measure his impact by scoring alone, stressing that defense, effort, and energy are just as important, especially in a high-stakes Finals setting.
“For me naman, hindi ko na iniisip ‘yung mga ganyang confidence basta ginagawa ko ‘yung trabaho ko para sa team, kung hindi naman ako maka-score, babawi ako sa depensa, marami namang aspects ang game, so ‘yun nga ginagawa ko lang ‘yung job ko,” he said.
As the Finals continue, Trollano said his approach will remain the same — to stay locked in on his responsibilities on both ends of the floor and make sure San Miguel has every chance to repeat as champions. (AC)
