Senator Bong Go, chairman of the Senate Committee on Sports, commended the Philippine Basketball Association for staging games in different venues to bring basketball closer to Filipino fans.
Go said the league’s efforts to reach communities outside traditional venues have helped make games more accessible to a wider audience.
“It’s important that we continue to give joy to Filipinos,” he said.
The senator noted that holding games in various locations allows more fans to watch live without the need to travel far.
“The PBA is bringing the games closer to the people so they won’t have a hard time finding opportunities to watch,” he added.
In recent weeks, the league has held games in venues such as the Ninoy Aquino Stadium, Ynares centers, Mall of Asia Arena, and Smart Araneta Coliseum as part of its outreach to fans.
Interest in the league remains high, highlighted by competitive matchups like Rain or Shine Elasto Painters’s 116-112 win over San Miguel Beermen, which pushed the Elasto Painters to a 5-0 start.
For the senator, continuing these initiatives will help strengthen the connection between the league and its supporters nationwide. (Jesus Nathaniel Valdez)
