PBA courtside reporter Apple David addressed criticism surrounding her relationship with Colegio de San Juan de Letran Knights guard Chad Gammad after days of online speculation linking the two together.
David spoke during a TikTok livestream on Monday, where she defended herself against comments targeting the pair’s 15-year age gap. The broadcaster is 33 years old, while Gammad recently turned 18.
David expressed disappointment over the backlash, saying some online users were too quick to judge their relationship.
“Sobrang hirap bang rumespeto ng desisyon ng ibang tao? We’re happy. Supportive ang families namin. Ang pangit lang na we’re happy tas sinisira niyo ang happiness namin,” David said. “Ang dali kasi maging keyboard warrior. Don’t be quick to judge if you don’t know the story.”

David also rejected accusations and labels being thrown at her on social media, particularly terms she said were being used irresponsibly by critics.
“Don’t use words if you don’t know the meaning. Groomer? Predator? Pedophile? Do you guys even know the meaning?” she said.
The courtside reporter acknowledged that the relationship may appear unusual to some because of the age difference, but maintained that both of them are capable of making their own decisions.
“Naiintindihan ko na bata siya but he’s not a minor. I’m not even a groomer, 18 na siya nung nakilala ko siya. Hindi ko naman siya pinalaki,” she said.
David also stressed that she entered the relationship by choice and urged critics to avoid questioning her character.
“I also have a choice. Masama ba bigyan ng chance yung 18 year old? Nag-click eh. What am I supposed to do?” David asked.
“Gets ko naman na mas bata siya, pero imbes na kwestyunin yung integridad ko, kwestyunin niyo na lang yung intensyon niyo,” she added.
