TNT taps Malick Diouf after Bol Bol suffers season-ending injury

TNT Tropang 5G has listed Maodo Malick Diouf as its import for Game 3 of the PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup semifinals against the Meralco Bolts on Sunday at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

TNT team manager Jojo Lastimosa confirmed that the team has tapped the former University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons foreign student-athlete as a temporary reinforcement, although his availability remains uncertain pending the completion of necessary documents.

“Yes, Diouf (is our import for Game 3) pending on papers submission,” Lastimosa told Fastbreak on Saturday. “He needs paperwork pa rin so malabo (din makalaro).”

Diouf recently completed his naturalization process for the Gilas Pilipinas 3×3 team and is best known for helping steer the Fighting Maroons to the UAAP Season 84 men’s basketball championship.

TNT was forced to look for a replacement after former NBA player Bol Manute Bol suffered an Achilles injury during Game 2 of the semifinals on Friday night.

Despite naming Diouf for Game 3, Lastimosa said the Tropang 5G are still considering either Marquese Chriss or Darius Days as their long-term import for the remainder of the conference.
