JUSTIN BROWNLEE and other PBA stars will headline Gilas Pilipinas’ 30-man pool for the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan as the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) submitted the initial roster to organizers through the early entries by name.
As reported on the Sporting Chance column of PBA commentator Quinito Henson, San Miguel Beermen mainstay June Mar Fajardo, Jaymar Perez, Jerrick Ahanmisi and Celedonio Trollano were listed.
Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings is represented by Earl Scottie Thompson, Jeth Troy Rosario and Rhon Jay Abarrientos, while TNT Tropang 5G has Calvin Oftana, Jordan Heading and Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser in the pool.
Converge FiberXers contributed Justine Baltazar, Justin Arana and Juan Gomez de Liaño, while Rain or Shine Elasto Painters has Adrian Nocum and Caelan Tiongson.
Chris Newsome and Brandon Bates made the list from Meralco Bolts, while Sedrick Barefield (Blackwater), Robert Bolick (NLEX), Zavier Lucero (Magnolia) and Jason Perkins (Phoenix) complete the PBA selections.
Cone also named several Filipino imports playing in Japan’s B.League—Jamie Malonzo, Kai Sotto, Dwight Ramos, AJ Edu, Quentin Millora-Brown and Mike Phillips—although their availability remains uncertain pending the league’s decision on releasing players for the Asian Games.
Filipino players based in the Korean Basketball League were left out of the roster. Carl Tamayo and Kevin Quiambao were omitted after reports that KBL clubs are not allowing their Filipino players to compete in the continental meet.
The roster also includes naturalized players Brownlee, Bennie Boatwright and Ange Kouame. Boatwright is still awaiting the completion of his naturalization documents.
The 2026 Asian Games will be held from September 19 to October 4 in Aichi-Nagoya, with the men’s basketball tournament scheduled earlier, from September 10 to 20. (Adrian Co)
