The Philippine Basketball Association has postponed its scheduled games on Sunday, August 9, at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila, due to severe weather conditions affecting the country.
The PBA announced that the games between Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters and Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, as well as Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings and Blackwater Bossing tussle, will be moved to a later date.
The league said the decision was made primarily to ensure the safety of everyone involved in the games.
“In light of the severe weather conditions, and with the safety of our fans, players, officials, and staff as our top priority, the PBA has decided to POSTPONE its Sunday, August 9 games,” the league said in an announcement.
The PBA added that an updated schedule will be released through its official channels.
The postponement came after games at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium last Friday and the Ynares Center in Montalban, Rizal, were also temporarily suspended for several minutes due to rainwater leaking into the venues amid the inclement weather.
The league urged fans and other stakeholders to take necessary precautions and prioritize their safety.
“The PBA urges everyone to take all necessary precautions and to stay safe,” the league said.
The PBA has yet to announce the rescheduled dates for Sunday’s postponed games. (Adrian Co)
