Busan Universal Rail Inc. (BURI) on Tuesday denied accusations that glitches in the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) increased since they took over maintenance of the railway system two years ago.
On the contrary, BURI spokesman Atty. Charles Mercado claimed that they have lessened the number of glitches by 20% from 2015 to the first half of 2017.
"We were able to reduce the glitches by 15% from 2015 to 2016. From 2015 to halfway of 2017, we reduced it by 20%... in numbers that's 550 glitches less," Mercado said during a press briefing at Greenbelt 2 in Makati City.
"We are continuously lessening the number of glitches in the system," he added.
Busan entered into a contract with the government in 2016.
Mercado said that the glitches were not always due to maintenance issues, but rather system and design issues.
"Marami itong glitches nito... paminsan no fault [ang BURI]," he said.
"Not all the glitches are maintenance issues," he added.
The last reported technical glitch in the MRT system happened last week and affected the southbound trip from North Avenue Station to Quezon Avenue Stations, forcing the unloading of passengers at the Araneta-Cubao station.
