MANILA- President Rodrigo Duterte called senators for a meeting at Malacañang on Tuesday afternoon.

Senate majority leader Tito Sotto revealed that Duterte asked him, Senate president Koko Pimentel, and Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon for a 5 p.m. meeting.

The message was relayed to them past 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sotto added.

'Nagpatawag si Presidente sa amin eh...si Koko, ako, mga ilan kami rito. Pati si Frank inimbita eh. So ibig sabihin nun medyo mabigat yung pag uusapan," Sotto told reporters.

Other senators summoned by the President are Gringo Honasan and Sonny Angara.

Sotto, Angara, and Drilon said they will attend the meeting.

Though he admitted having no idea what the President intends to discuss with them, Sotto thinks one of the issues that will be discussed is the Senate probe on the smuggling of P6.4 billion worth of shabu.

Duterte has also summoned Customs Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon to the Palace on Tuesday, after some P6.4 billion worth of illicit drugs from China slipped past the country’s ports.
