Hitman Ex-BF of slain Mayor Espinosa's daughter, killed in a shootout

During a police raid in Davao City, an alleged hitman of the slain Albuera Mayor Rolando Espinosa was killed on Wednesday morning. The suspect was allegedly resisting from arrest by the joint team of Eastern Visayas and Davao regional police units and the Toril PNP.

News reports stated that the suspect identified to be Jake Bolanio Dela Cruz, was former boyfriend of the slain mayor's daughter.

Dela Cruz was killed in his home in Upper Piedad, Bato Village, Toril District, Davao City. Apparently, he took out an Uzi machine pistol and fired at the arrest warrant serving police officers, leading to his death.

Police confiscated the firearm, cash and several ID cards from his possession. The suspect, according to Toril District police head Chief Inspector Ronaldo Lao had two charges of murder for killing two police officials in Albuera.

He was also involved in some illegal drug-related activities and illegal possession of firearms - violation of  R.A. 8294.

Before his death, Albuera Mayor Espinosa named some cops and lawmakers who were drug cohorts of his son, Kerwin.

Names of police officers, members of the Congress, senators are among the list of his son, labeled as the Eastern Visayas druglord.

During a news conference, he was about to mention the names of the drug-linked cohorts when he changed his due to fear for his own life. He broke into tears, but still gave some hints who they might be. The last one was so obvious.

He said there were members of the PNP and Congress. Espinosa nodded when asked if there was a senator involved.

The then Albuera chief of police Chief Inspector Jovie Espenido claimed he had seen the ledger, which was the basis of Espinosa's affidavit.

"May senador nga. May senador (na) isa, nakita ko. Dating secretary ng DOJ siguro yun... Nakita ko lang," Espenido said.

Obviously, it was detained Senator Leila de Lima. She was the predecessor of Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre.

Attached on the slain mayor's affidavit was a photo of Senator Leila De Lima at Kerwin, smiling on the camera. De Lima is currently detained in Camp Crame for three drug-related charges, one unbailable.

On November 5, Mayor Espinosa was killed inside the Baybay City Sub-Provincial Jail.

His death, from what Senator Panfilo Lacson had said, in theory, was a case of extrajudicial killing.

Criminal Investigation and Detection Group claimed Espinosa resisted when police officers were serving him a warrant for possession of drugs and firearm.
