[OPEN LETTER]: Netizen Writes Open Letter To LTFRB "Asawa nga na may papel, napapalitan. Kayo pa. Kaya h'wag maging kampante sa prangkisa."

The Land Transportation Franchise and Regulatory Board on Monday announced suspension of the accreditation of ridesharing company Uber for one month.

The LTFRB also ordered the company to cease and desist operations of its online booking application, which allows users to book rides on their smartphones.

The board said the order is effective immediately.

Atty. Bruce Rivera a well known lawyer and prominent supporter  of President Duterte address the concern on his Facebook account on the said date once LTFRB have declared the suspension.

Here is the said post from Attorny Bruce Rivera Facebook post:

Dear LTFRB,

There is a reason why many people use Uber. Its the service and the convenience. It is an alternative transportation. Parang traditional media at social media. Umaangal ang may prangkisa dahil napasukan sila ng mga feeling nila ay nilusob ang territoryo nila. Kaso itanong ninyo sa sarili ninyo if Uber and Grab is good for the Filipinos. And you know the answer.

I have no problem that you require them to register but make it less-complicated for everyone. Kaya umaaray ang mga taxi company kasi dati parang sumasali sa lotto ang pagkuha ng prangkisa.

And here is the problem, franchises are supposed to regulate taxi so they can provide better service. But have you seen some taxis lately. The vehicle is not well maintained, the driver does not even look hospitable. Madami ang mukhang adik kahit alam nating may drug test. And worst, many taxis have become crime traps. And it is allowed to proliferate because the LTFRB has beem remiss in exacting accountability from erring taxi operators many of whom are influential politicians and personalities.

Uber and Grab are here because there is a void to fill. We lack decent public transportation that does not only make us feel important but safe as well. True there are problems but because everything is documented online it is hard to go unnoticed. However, we have been so used to perennial taxi abuses we just stopped complaining. Madaming magagaling na taxi operators and they should not feel threatened because if they provide good service, people will patronize.

The LTFRB should not punish the new players because they are doing much better service for the Filipinos. Instead, they should welcome the competition. Yes, they can regulate but if their concept of regulation is tantamount to prohibition then the LTFRB does not have the public sentiment at heart. So, if you can penalize Uber for one month, why have you not penalized taxi operators for bad service.

Parang issue din yan ng traditional media versus social media. Kaya kayo pinapalitan, dahil mas maganda ang serbisyo ng baguhan. Galingan niyo kasi at hwag maging kampante dahil may prangkisa. Asawa nga na may papel, napapalitan. Kayo pa.

And I have yet to talk about the penalty. Hindi ko kaya ngayon kasi puro mura ang mababasa niyo.
