Both Senator Franklin Drilon and Senator Francis 'Kiko' Pangilinan questioned the drug raid in Ozamiz City in Sunday that lead to the deaths of incumbent Mayor Aldong Parojinog, his wife and fifteen others while none of the police officers who conducted the raid died.
Presidential sister Jocellyn Duterte, who seemed to have had enough of the Opposition's ignorance and shameless remarks, lambasted the two senators. She expressed her dismay through Facebook, explaining why warrants can be served before dawn.
Jocellyn Duterte said it is very hard to accept that there are lawmakers who doesn't even know the laws of the Philippines. Furthermore, she explained serving warrants before dawn are conducted to avoid collateral damages and to catch criminals off guard.
"I was with my fb reading the news...came across Sen. Pangilinan and Sen. Drilon's comments. Aray ko, hirap tanggapin na may senador ang Pilipinas na hindi man lang alam ang batas... kailangan ba my date, time at araw ang warrant of arrest? Kung ako ang pulis sa madaling araw ko gawin, bakit? Para maiwasan ang casualties kung may labanang mangyari, at ang criminal hindi makapag handa dahil tulog," Jocellyn wrote.
The most shocking part is Senator Pangilinan's claim that the raid can't be accepted as a legitimate or believable operation since no one from the side of the police died.
"At ito pinaka matindi!... hindi raw kapanipaniwala na walang namatay na pulis sa encounter ...Sir, hindi po bobo ang pulis, pag aralan po nila yan at mag surveilance po yan bago lumosob di po ba? Saan po logic yan statement mo," she exclaimed.
"At ang media ganon din ang mga tanong, eh nandoon naman sila, kitang kita nila...obvious ba na may halong politika," she added.
At the end of her message, the Presidential sister lectured them, stating the Philippines has changed. It took so many years of pain before it finally opened its eyes to see the truth.
"Nagbago na po ang Pilipinas...ilang taon din tiniis ang hirap at dusa bago natoto at na mulat sa katotohanan. Godb," she ended.
Both Senator Pangilinan and Drilon questioned the drug raid conducted by Ozamiz City police at the residence of the Parojinog.
The raid resulted to the deaths of the Mayor Parojinog, his wife and fifteen other people who were there.
Pangilinan, for his part, called the police raid an 'unrealistic' operation, noting that not even one from the side of the police died.
"Serving warrants of arrest past 2 a.m., disabling the CCTVs prior to entering the premises, all 15 suspected drug lords at the scene of the crime and their 'armed to the teeth' bodyguards are killed, no injuries or casualties on the side of the PNP. Hindi makatotohanan. Puwedeng gawin ito kaninuman," Pangilinan said.
For Drilon, he questioned the time when the warrant was served.
"Why are search warrants, served before dawn as in the cases of Mayor Espinosa and now, Mayor Parojinog, result in the deaths of the persons being searched? Both are tagged as drug lords. Too much of a coincidence?" Drilon said.
Aside from these two lawmakers, Senator Chiz Escudero wondered if the law enforcers used an "overpowering forces" against the drug lord. He said the current administration is only for six years. Whatever the police are enjoying now will also end and if ever they have violated "existing laws", they'll eventually pay for the consequences.
"The term of the incumbent administration is only for six years, so whatever it is they’re enjoying right now, if they violate any of our existing laws, they would have to face it anyway after six years, in this case after five years. So, huwag sila masyadong mag-isip na protektado sila habambuhay," he said.
Meanwhile, to Senator Panfilo Lacson, nothing is wrong with serving a warrant before dawn.
"When I was still in the law enforcement service, talagang we’d rather operate pag madaling araw para element of surprise yun eh," Lacson, former PNP chief, said.
"Especially kung ang information armed group ang ire-raid mo, teka muna, susugod ba ako ng araw? Kitang-kita naman ako...At this point sabi ko nga wala akong nakitang irregular," he added.
